In The Tale of Despereaux, the story of a heroic mouse, author Kate DiCamillo creatively captures the way sun shines into a room.
“The April sun, weak but determined, shone through a castle window and from there squeezed itself through a small hole in the wall and placed one golden finger on the little mouse” (pp.12-13.)
I love the imagery of a “golden finger.”
By the way, if you figure out to “catch” sunshine, let us know. It’d be nice to save up a collection on the shelf and take out some on a grey and rainy day.
