From the Live.Read.Write. filing cabinet: Here’s a *free* printable reading log you can use to record independent reading time. Keep track by minutes or pages and have readers color in a book when they’ve finished a title. Reading logs can get tedious to fill out and sign every night so this is a fun way to a way to engage kids and encourage them to reach a goal of completing 10, 20, or 30 books, depending on reading stamina. You might give a reader of longer books the stack of 10 version. Or, you might give the stack of 10 to a kid who would be overwhelmed by a huge hunkin’ stack of books. Whatever version you choose, print and add pages as needed then staple/ bind together in a folder to make a Reading Portfolio — a keepsake of all the wonderful reading they’ve done! Teachers can have parents/guardians initial each day recorded for accountability. Happy Reading!
